Fortezza: allegory, tradition and the ceramic craft
Franco Cipolletti takes up the form of the old apothecary jar and turns it into a symbolic work of art.
The allegory
Fortitude
The central figure represents Fortitude, understood as virtue, endurance and inner strength. The composition turns the jar into a symbolic image in which body, gesture and word build the meaning of the work.
The form
A memory of the apothecary jar
The piece takes a shape inspired by the old albarelli, jars traditionally linked to apothecaries and decoration. Its sober volume lets the painting and the inscription take centre stage.
The ornament
Colour, inscription and tradition
The polychrome decoration, the plant motifs and the inscription come together in a one-of-a-kind piece painted entirely by hand. Every detail is part of a visual reading that joins ceramic tradition and personal interpretation.
